Apia villas

On the west coast of Peloponnese, just two hours from Athens, sits Tolo. The former fishing village of the prefecture of Argolis, attracts visitors from all over the world as it combines uniquely all the features that make Greece an interesting destination for all seasons: sandy beaches, visitable mountain masses, archaeological sites of particular importance - Asini, Nafplio, Mycenae, Epidaurus – while it also offers opportunities for fun and sports activities in nature.

A Private Retreat

Built on a steep hill right at the edge of Tolo, Apia Villas is a lodgment in harmony with the natural environment – the Argolic gulf and the scattered islets of Romvi, Platia, Psili as well as the castle of ancient Asini and the surrounding mountains. The settlement owes its name to one of the oldest “brands” of the Peloponnese, «Απία» or «Απίη».

The complex

The complex consists of three private villas, offering all modern facilities enriched with the spatial experience and qualities of a Greek community, retaining its architectural heritage whilst redefining traditional boundaries between internal and external space.

Built

Built amphitheatrically on a plot of 4,100 sq.m., the villas form terraces, which give the feeling of a series of "hanging gardens", ensuring at the same time the much-desired privacy for the visitor: Their veranda looks east to the horizon above the roofs of the other houses and their courtyard is isolated from the neighboring thanks to this exact altitude difference.

Combining

Combining above-ground and underground construction, they essentially follow the natural relief and are organized linearly in the direction of the sea.

About the Villas

Each villa has two levels: the first, hosts a shared living area, an open plan kitchen, a double bedroom that opens onto a small courtyard and a private pool; the second has one more bedroom, which also opens onto its own small courtyard. Both levels have a wc with shower.

The two floors are connected by an internal staircase. An external, low-angled, staircase connects the three residences.

Large sliding windows, terraces protected from the sun and wind and air conditioning, make each villa an ideal home all year round, where guests can enjoy the beauty of each season.

The design of the residences is crisp and bold but at the same time it is sentient and authentic, while the external green areas, around the perimeter of the rooms, offer an unobstructed view of the bay and the surrounding mountains as well as a wide range of “relaxation spots”, depending on the direction of the sun.

On the south side of each residence, a sheltered outdoor area shaded with reeds functionally complements the daycare and dining areas.

The external thermal insulation system keeps the villas cool in the summer and warm in the winter.
